Studio 19 Gallery Anniversary Party and Exhibition

OH MY GOODNESS! YES – IT’S TRUE – OUR GALLERY HAS BEEN OPEN FOR ONE YEAR! (well one year and 2 months to be exact)

We are celebrating our wonderful gallery space’s anniversary in true Nina and Caz style with a big bash full of great art, live music and roving circus right here in the gallery.

We will have a two week exhibition full of some of the Illawarra’s most talented artist’s works (that the artists have generously donated to the studio) and we will be selling them via a silent auction throughout the week and at the opening night celebration party. So you have the opportunity to get a piece of art by a fabulous artist at the price you want to pay. We will also be raffling an amazing piece of sculpture by Anita Larkin!

If you were lucky enough to be at our grand opening you will remember what an incredible night it was – full of colour, vibrance and richness. Wendy King – THE INTRUDERS exhibition

The Intruders – WENDY KING

In the pop up shopfront Gallery

For eight years I have been using vintage and contemporary printed material to create collages. My work is inspired by myths, fantasy and adventure stories as well as the characteristics of my chosen medium – paper texture, print colours, graphic lines – of any type and quality. My training as a printmaker informs my practice.

The Intruders series explores word play, puns and irony. Images from 1970s comics and 1990s illustrations disrupt the serious tone associated with these ‘old masters’ paintings reproduced in art collector magazines from the 1950s and 1960s. Each work is inspired by the painting and the weird associations that happen in my head and make me laugh.

On show: 7th-17th August

Opening night: Friday 9 August, 6.30pm

Gallery hours tues, wed, fri: 10-4pm thurs: 12-6pm sat: 11-3pm
