Call out for film photographers or lovers of film for upcoming exhibition at Studio 19

24 – 1 roll – 24hrs

Photography Exhibition at Studio 19 Wollongong

Exhibition dates 19th March – 12th April

Opening night will be Friday 21st March

SUBMISSIONS MUST BE IN BY 3PM FRIDAY 14TH MARCH

RULES

The object of this exhibition is to present 24 shots of one day in your life. You must exhibit exactly one roll, even if the shot didn’t work out. It’s all about a process and experimentation. We are not striving for perfection here.

Please use 35mm film only. It can be B&W, Colour, old film, whatever as long as it’s 35mm. I would also like to see the negatives for proof that it has come from one roll.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, ALL SHOTS MUST BE IN LANDSCAPE FORMAT NOT PORTRAIT! (ie long side across not up and down)

Once you have taken your photos please print them out at 6 x4 with white borders on them. This is very important as we have planned a certain way of exhibiting them.

For processing film we use Photoriesel in Sydney, there is also Blanco Negro. But use the power of google to sort it out. If anyone has any suggestions let us know and we will share it.

How much will this cost?

To exhibit in this show it will be $50 for each entry plus 20% commission on sales. What does this cover you ask? It covers the exhibition fee for one month, e –invite design, opening night expenses, promotion through social media and our mailing list. I will send out e-invites for you to distribute to your contacts.

To confirm your spot please $50 deposit is required. Get in touch for options.

One last thing, we are having a makeover at the gallery so we will be holding exhibitions in the hallway and creative loungeroom from now on.

If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Please share this with other photographers that may be interested.

If you would like to take part in this exhibition that will be held at Studio 19 art gallery Wollongong please contact nina@exposurearts.com.au

We can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we started our Tuesday Night Drawing Sessions. We have had such an amazing line up of artists, musicians and circus performers share their talents with us at Studio 19.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Studio 19 – Exposure Arts and Media, Tuesday night drawing sessions, we are celebrating with an exhibition that showcases the talents of both the local performers who have modelled and performed for us, and the artists who have drawn them.
At the Tuesday night drawing sessions we hire models who are performers with backgrounds in either music, dance, theatre, circus or performance art. The models perform for us while we draw them. It is an intimate performace and a great way to develop life drawing skills in a relaxed loungeroom environment.
Here at Studio 19 we feel so lucky to have shared so many great experiences in the past year while helping to support our vibrant creative industry here in Wollongong. To celebrate the anniversary, we are holding an exhibition displaying some of the drawings and photos taken at these sessions. We would like to share what we do at Studio 19 and encourage people to come to the sessions and to have a go at drawing in a supportive, fun environment.
OPENING NIGHT THURSDAY 24TH JANUARY!!!

The Misfit Life of Shopping Trolleys – Debby Downes Exhibition

A photographic exhibition by Debby Downes in the Hallway Gallery
Opening Friday 23rd November 7pm -9pm

Show runs from the 21st November – 1st December2012
The Life Of Misfit Shopping Trolleys.

Have you ever seen a stray shopping trolley stranded beyond the boundaries of the local supermarket?
To the average person stray trolleys go unnoticed, semi-molded into the everyday suburban landscape of our consumer society.

Shopping trolleys are an integral part of Australia ’s economy.
It is estimated there are over 2 million trolleys across the country, one for every 11 Australians, with each one costing upwards of $100.
As well as being a significant financial cost, stray trolleys are an environmental hazard to creeks, bush land and waterways.
This first became apparent two years ago when I started photographing stray trolleys in a lighthearted attempt at humor; initially I would challenge myself to seek out obscure locations and the strangest scenarios I could find, uploading them weekly to an online album for my friends to enjoy.
Within months I had captured hundreds of images with minimal effort, revealing a disturbing truth,,,, shopping trolleys are taking over our streets, bus stops, river systems and lane-ways every single day.

None of the photos in this exhibition were staged. All shopping trolleys were photographed in situ… clearly for many their shopping days are over.
Sadly in the past two years the retail industry has spent more than $4oo Million collecting, repairing, maintaining, and replacing these trolleys.

What’s It Called Again? Exhibition

Another week, another exhibition going up at Studio 19. What’s it called? What’s it about? Which artists are exhibiting? We don’t even know!
It’s curated by Josh Wiffen so it may have some street art in it.

Opening night is Friday 12th October at 6.30pm

SHOW OPENS FROM MIDDAY ON THURSDAY 11TH TILL SATURDAY 20TH OCTOBER

what we do know is that there will be some live music by “Spectacles MCs – Y.Etti & 2000faces”

Spectacles are a lyrical electronic rock act from Sydney who have grown from a solo bedroom project to a 5-strong live band in three short years. But on the 12th of October, Spectacles’ two vocalists/MCs are leaving the drums and amp stacks at home to let samplers, synths and their staccato wordplay take centre stage.

Spectacles MCs Y.Etti and 2000faces will be dressed to impress and ready to dissect a civilisation’s failed heart, with gloves off and wits scalpel-sharp. Expect a set of fierce verses, harmonies and improvisation – all set to a sonic backdrop of raw beats cooked up on the spot.

Under the Surface

Come and join us for our next exhibition of local art. This time we are focusing on photography and all it’s glorious possibilities.

A solo show by Mellissa Thompson

’The vault through which determines life or death’

The vault through which determines life or death explores site specific installation drawing dealing with the line in space and its relationship to the space that is comes to exist within. It talks about a dialogue between line as being eternal and the passage walked as being something that will become determined.
